Why it Matters

Academic disciplines keep splintering into more specialised subfields. Trust in democratic institutions is eroding, as expediency takes precedence. What is the likely long-term effect of these new trends for Europe? What will be the impact of the increasing fragmentation of societies and of their segregated subcultures? Where is Europe going? Who is asking those questions?

QVI creates space for uncommon reflection where we . . .

  • facilitate dialogue on subjects critical to our future,
  • celebrate the diversity of Europe,
  • participate in the shaping of a sustainable Europe.

QVI acts as a platform for intra and cross-disciplinary reflection that looks at current trends from a holistic perspective. It challenges paradigms, fosters dialogue on the question of human flourishing under these new conditions and inspires best practice in academic and professional fields.

QVI calls for a fresh consideration of Renaissance Thinking which overcomes the silo-mentality of today’s specialisation and seeks holistic models to discern what Europe will look like tomorrow. Inspired by the Christian ethics of reciprocity and human dignity, we seek ideas that pave the way for a Europe which is both sustainable and conducive to human flourishing.
